About Hawley House
Step back
in time to a gentler age when hospitality was an art and life was
unhurried. When a person could while away an hour on the front porch
with coffee and newspaper...without a shred of guilt or when winter
nights were spent in bed under a cozy quilt or down comforter.
The Hawley House at the historic victorian Cultra House captures
this spirit from the past with the sophistication of today. We offer
you an uptown experience while you are in Lincoln.
Allow yourself
to be pampered at Lincoln's Hawley House during your stay. Your
relaxing stay includes a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed
to get your day started out right. Enjoy our home and make it your
home while in Lincoln.
The Hawley House is a 1893 victorian house located in the Hawley
Historic District, a neighborhood next to downtown Lincoln, NE and
the University of Nebraska city campus. The house was originally
built as 2 victorian town homes.
The property, then a 4 apartment complex, was purchased in 1993
by John & Peggy Struwe. In 2004 the 4 apartments were converted
to a single family home. Upgrades were made to replace 4 old furnaces
with 4 new energy effecient furnaces, the window air conditioners
were replaced with 4 central air conditioners, the water heater
was replaced with a new energy effecient water heater, and all walls
were insulated along with the attic. Many other things have been
done and can be viewed during your stay. The house was opened as
a bed and breakfast in the spring of 2004 with one suite on first
floor. The bed and breakfast closed in December 2010. First floor
is now our home along with the south apartment on second floor.
We offer the 1200 square foot apartment on the second floor north
side for short term rental. It is furnished and includes untilities.
